MacBook Neo may lose its beautiful appearance due to the ongoing shortage of RAM. According to expert Tim CulpanApple may abandon the launch of the $599 Neo budget base, leaving only a $699 model with 512GB of storage. Earlier this week, Apple also stopped selling the cheapest models Mac miniraising its starting price to $799. In March, Apple removed the option of 512GB of RAM in Mac Studio, possibly due to low RAM.
Strange, a MacBook Neo he may experience the same price swings due to his huge early success. The Neo arrived at a time when the shortage of RAM was driving up prices competition laptops (and almost everything else), and the laptop has been a hit so much that there is currently a wait of two or three weeks for it to be sent on the Apple website. In response, Culpan says Apple is increasing production of the Neo to 10 million units, instead of the 5 to 6 million it originally planned.
The first batch of Neos used the A18 Pro chips left over from the iPhone 16 Pro, but Apple will need to order more for the second batch of Neos. Between the cost of manufacturing the A18 Pro chips and the high cost of other components due to the limited RAM, this second batch of MacBook Neos will be very expensive for Apple to produce. Unfortunately, that cost can be passed on to consumers.
