Tickets to the World Cup in Toronto can now be resold at their original price on the FIFA Market after soccer’s world governing body changed its policy to comply with the Ontario government’s recent ban on reselling conference tickets above face value.
The new statement, which was launched on Wednesday, came a week after tickets for six games at Toronto Stadium were withdrawn from the market in response to the Canadian province’s 2026 funding.

Ontario’s “Putting Fans First Act” states that no person may make a ticket available for sale on the secondary market or control the sale of a ticket on the secondary market at a price greater than the original price of the ticket.
Under FIFA’s revised terms, a ticket for a match at the Toronto Stadium cannot be listed on its platform at a repurchase price higher than the original amount paid to FIFA Ticketing, even if the ticket was previously purchased on the market above the price.
Tickets for matches at all 15 other venues can be listed above the retail price and exchanged on the market, which FIFA says is designed to protect fans and is subject to state and local laws.

FIFA has faced a lot of criticism in this regard the price of World Cup ticketsand the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) fans group who called the price tag “extortionate” and “a huge betrayal”.
Last week, the FIFA Market announced four tickets to the final on July 19 in New York for more than $2m each.
As of April 20, FIFA said, more than 5 million tickets had been sold for the June 11-July 19 tournament, hosted by Canada, the US and Mexico.
However, FIFA has struggled to sell games, including the USA’s opener against Paraguay.
Seats are available for most team games, albeit at very high prices.
USA vs Paraguay tickets start at $1,120 and go up to $4,105, with most tickets costing around $2,000 for the June 12 game in Los Angeles. Hospitality class seats go up to $6,050 per seat.
Tickets are still available on the official FIFA website through the “last sold” section.
