The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has said that it has warned diplomatic missions to immediately withdraw their staff from the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, if the city of Moscow poses a serious threat to the city following Ukraine’s attempts to disrupt the commemoration of Russia’s Victory Day on May 9.
In a video sent on the Telegraph on Wednesday, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, urged diplomats to heed the warning of the Ministry of Defense during the ceremony that took place on Monday, on the Ukrainian attack during the commemoration of the victory of the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany in the Second World War and the army in Red Square.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia urges the authorities of your country, the leadership of your organization, to treat this statement with great responsibility and to ensure that people working in espionage and other representatives are removed from the city of Kyiv in a timely manner in connection with the inevitability of reprisals in Kyiv by the Russian army,” said Zakharova.
Zakharova said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made “aggressive and threatening” comments about disrupting the memorial at a meeting of the European Political Community in Armenia on Monday.
“Several EU countries were there,” he said. “No one criticized the leader of the Kyiv government.”
In his speech in Armenia, Zelenskyy announced to Russia that the commemoration is being scaled back and is taking place without military equipment for security reasons.
“This is the first time in many years that they cannot afford to buy military equipment, and they are afraid that drones will start flying over Red Square. This shows,” he said.
Zelenskyy said that Russia is also sending air defenses from its territory to Moscow in preparation for the May 9 military strike, adding that the move will create space for long-term attacks on Ukraine.
“This shows that the Russian leadership is not ready for the ceasefire that has been so much news, and is more concerned about its protests in Moscow than the rest of Russia,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.
“At the same time, we feel that this gives us the opportunity to increase the sanctions that we have been given for a long time. We will explain what we have to do with it,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two countries announced compete to stop the fire before it happens. Both sides have argued breaking the anti-combat law announced by Ukraine on May 6. Russia announced its provisional decision at its Victory Day celebrations on May 9.
