A surprise offer on Deco’s table… Barcelona is investigating the case of the Chelsea defender

The Blaugrana did not close the door on the French player

Although the transfer market has not yet officially opened its doors, its heat has started to rise. As Barcelona quietly move to rebuild their defensive line, a surprise offer has been put on the table of sporting director Deco.

Sky Sports has revealed that Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana’s agents have contacted Barcelona to discuss a possible move for him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The network has confirmed that Barcelona have considered the offer and included Fofana’s name in a wider list of candidates to strengthen the base, without making a final decision yet.

He noted that the Catalan club is awaiting the clarification of its position in relation to the Financial Fair Play regulation, which is expected to give it greater flexibility compared to previous seasons.

Fofana (25 years old) has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2029, he plays well in central defense and right back positions. Despite intermittent injuries, he played in 34 games this season, totaling 2,400 minutes, and provided two assists.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are willing to sell the player if an offer of around €30m is made. Barcelona, for its part, is considering a loan formula with an option to buy as a preferred option to reduce financial risks.

Barcelona’s interest in Fofana comes as they await the fate of several files, notably the status of loan players such as Joao Cancelo, in addition to the possibility of some current defenders leaving, and as reported by Mundo Deportivo newspaper, any movement in the defensive market will depend on departures first.

It’s worth noting that Barcelona are aiming to win the Spanish league title in the coming weeks as they plan for the new season.
