Delaying the opening of the dossier… a double mission for Zahavi in Barcelona

Pini Zahavi’s appearance in Barcelona today, Wednesday, was no ordinary one, as Europe’s most famous agent currently carries in his bag, which includes two heavy files, with which he confronts the management of the Catalan club.

The first file is the future of German coach Hansi Flick, who has changed the face of the team, and the second is the future of Robert Lewandowski, a Polish goalscorer who is difficult to replace. These are two files that could shape the characteristics of Barcelona until 2029.

Agent Pini Zahavi arrived in Barcelona today, Wednesday, to finalize the contract extension with Hansi Flick, and he also had the case of his other client, Robert Lewandowski. However, Zahavi simply answered the question of extending the contract with the Polish forward. “We will talk later”, according to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”.

Zahavi’s visit to Catalonia comes after Flick changed his tone last April when he confirmed his desire to stay at Barcelona “until the stadium is finished and the Champions League is won”, describing the mission as the “last” of his career.

As reported by “Mundo Deportivo”, the management of “Barcelona” and the German coach have agreed to extend the contract until the summer of 2028, with the possibility of an extension for an additional season until June 30, 2029.

Zahavi, on the other hand, wants to know Barcelona’s final position on Lewandowski, whose contract expires next June 30, especially since the 36-year-old forward is fully integrated into the city and his wife recently published a picture of him with a tattoo of the club’s logo, in addition to the fact that club president Joan Laporta expressed an additional desire in his pre-season campaign.

The paper says the financial equation is different this time around, explaining that Lewandowski’s continuation would come at a much lower salary than his current one, especially as he was a substitute for most of the season until Flick recently brought him back into the starting line-up, as he did against Osasuna when he scored.

The player has 18 goals this season, and at the same time he has serious offers from Juventus and Milan to stay in the European elite, in addition to the Saudi League and the American Chicago Fire.
