Ronaldo’s situation raises the question of “fairness” in the Saudi league

The new mechanism adopted by the Saudi Professional League for the recruitment program, which was revealed today, Wednesday, has raised several questions, especially regarding the clubs’ television viewing and revenue from this segment, especially given the advantage of Al-Nasr Club with the presence of legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

The executive director of the association, Omar Al-Maghrebel, was asked about this issue during a press conference to explain the new mechanism of the recruitment program, which will continue until 2030.

Journalist Ahmed Al-Ajlan said during the conference. “In terms of views, Al-Nasr will come first because of the presence of the legend Ronaldo, and from my point of view this criterion lacks justice because there is only one Ronaldo in the world. Do you feel there is justice in this standard?”

“All criteria were set based on our investment approach in the program. All criteria are clear for all clubs. Some clubs have fans and therefore can be ranked higher by this criterion.”

He continued. “Today’s program was developed on the basis that each club is the owner of the decisions it makes, which can contribute to increased income through the investment and recruitment program.”
