Michael Vaughan says waiting to appoint a new England selector is ‘ridiculous’

Former captain Michael Vaughan has said it is “ridiculous” that England have yet to appoint their new national selector.

In the year The process of naming a successor to Luke Wright, who announced his resignation on January 22 and left after the T20 World Cup ended in March, reached the final stages of interviews this week.

Four rounds have been played in the County Championship and England are set to name their squad for the first Test against New Zealand in two weeks’ time.

“It’s funny how they announce the selectors so late,” Vaughan said on the Stick to Cricket podcast.

“I wanted the voters there on April 1, to go out, to look, to gather information.

“Luke Wright stopped at the Australian end. Didn’t we know?”

“It’s a long time to find someone, it’s four months.”
