TV tonight: Amandaland is back – and her star is as steadfast as ever | Television

Amandaland

9pm, BBC One

It’s great to have Lucy Punch’s stoic but charming Amanda back for a second season. Still unsatisfied with the social decline of south Harlesden (or “SoHa”) after his divorce, he moves forward with his new job – posting “wants” on the Internet – with best pal Anne (Philippa Dunne) and judgmental mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley). His first obstacle of the season comes in the form of new rival Abs (Harriet Webb) at work. Hollie Richardson

Why You Love Dogs By Alison Hammond

Alison certainly has a very interesting job when she joins the Battersea restaurant community: naming the dogs that have been brought in. One of them is a stressed but cute spaniel, whom he loves so much he calls him Samuel Hammond. When the doctor discovers that Samuel has arthritis and injured knees, his heart melts. Will he need surgery? HR

The Taste of Killing

9pm, ITV1

A case is about to be investigated… DCI Joe Mottram (Warren Brown) in A Taste of Killing. Photo: ITV

A dating app creator is found dead under a rock, but was his death self-inflicted? An unsigned and confidential medical practice appears, which makes this seem impossible. The second part of this delicious crime caper is heavy on Italian cuisine (lots of ripe lemons) but easy to see. Priya Elan

Salisbury Poisonings: The Untold Story

9pm, Channel 4
The second part of this hair-raising documentary shows how the city of Salisbury came close to the worst disaster in 2018. With the first victims of the Russian novicok attack being treated, military personnel and government officials are working from time to time to prevent the poison from spreading further. An Only Son

9.30pm, BBC One
The first series of the hilarious, heartwarming comedy ended with actor Richard (Greg McHugh) leaving his father, Ken (Gregor Fisher), to take part in a major TV show in Norway. But don’t expect a series of two Scandi pictures: Richard has returned to Forres on the Moray coast after losing his job, hiding from Emily (who keeps sending him pictures “on the set”), and helping his father keep the local parts.
