The Gunners equaled Chelsea’s record en route to a second final
Arsenal set a number of historic records after reaching this season’s Champions League final at the expense of Atletico Madrid.
The London side clinched valuable qualification after winning 1-0 in the second leg of the semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, marking the 1-1 draw in the first leg in Madrid last week.
This is only the second time in Arsenal’s history that they have reached the Champions League final, after losing to Barcelona for the first time in 2006.
According to the Statusfoot network, “Arsenal” has become the sixth English team in history, which won a ticket to the European final more than once.
The list includes “Liverpool” (10 times), “Manchester United” (5 times), “Chelsea” (3 times), “Nottingham Forest” and “Manchester City” (2 times).
Arsenal also recorded the competition’s longest unbeaten run in a single season with 11 wins and 3 draws (14 matches).
The only team to have beaten Arsenal since 2024 is Paris Saint-Germain, the other semi-finalists, meaning this clash could be repeated in this season’s final.
The English team surpassed the previous record of “Real Madrid” (13 matches), which won 10 and ended with 3 draws in the 2023-2024 season.
Arsenal also became the first team to score in nine Champions League games in a season since Chelsea did so in the 2020-2021 season.
