Bayern Munich star Michael Olisse has broken his silence after his country failed to win the 2026 World Cup, settling for fourth despite being one of the strong contenders to win the World Cup.
France, led by coach Didier Deschamps, put in a great performance at the start of the tournament which saw them reach the semi-finals after losing 2-0 to eventual champions Spain.
Deschamps stepped down as France coach at the end of the World Cup after 14 years at the helm of the Roosters, and was replaced by Zinedine Zidane.
In a message published on his official Instagram page, Olisei said:“Not winning the title is a big disappointment. We had no idea from the beginning that this tournament would end like this. It has been and will continue to be my dream to wear the jersey of the French national team at the World Cup.”
“Even though we couldn’t lift the trophy, I’m proud to have set the record for most assists in the history of the World Cup (7 assists).
“This is a goal that will continue to motivate us and we hope to bring you more joy and unforgettable memories in the future. I would also like to thank the coach for inviting me to the team for the first time and trusting me even in the most difficult moment.
