It is one of the most expensive for a reason, and comes with more stickers than any other brand. I always find myself grabbing the head of Fluffy Optic when removing my hard floors, which cover my house. If you’re looking to splurge on the best vacuum, this is the one you should get.
The only downside is connecting to Dyson’s main attachments, which are the mop head or the dock. It doesn’t have a Dock option like the V16 or V15, and Dyson’s Auto-empty Dok doesn’t work with this model. But if you don’t mind the extras, this is the place to shop. It has had better sales since the launch of the new models, too.
Runner Up
The naturally aspirated V16 Piston Animal’s powerful 315 has performed well in almost every test. My only issue with this mop compared to the Gen5Detect is that it pushes small debris (in my tests, sand and dirt) into a pile ahead of itself if you’re cleaning a large spill. Gen5Detect performed well across the board, but the V16 Piston Animal lagged behind with a hiccup.
It’s a powerful all-around vacuum with some nice features to make it easy to use. The new model has a release under the vacuum motor to release the cleaning head without bending down, and the tools for fastening the seats to the hand motor and the long rod that forms the center of the device. There is also a compressor to help push the dust out of the dust bin, and it will be compatible with Dyson’s upcoming self-emptying vacuums. There’s also a Submarine model ($1,100) so you can use this vacuum as a mop, too.
It has good live upgrades, but it is very expensive. I would like to advise if you know you also want to be in the mop head and docking station; otherwise, just get Gen5Detect.
The Affordable All-Arounder
One of the best performers is about half the price of my best. Dyson V10 Konical did not score once last time, and was comfortable to use on carpets and rugs with the new cleaning head. It fared better than the powerful and powerful Gen5Detect and V15 Detect at cleaning sand, and I found it more comfortable to push around than the Digital Motorbar head on the V15 and V8 when it came to removing a small amount of dirt.
