Video: Despite Summerville’s participation…Algerian champions Al Hilal suffer their first friendly defeat

Al Hilal suffered their first friendly defeat before the start of the new 2026-2027 football season, despite the presence of their new Dutch star Crescencio Summerville.

Al Hilal lost 0-2 to MC Algiers today, Wednesday, in Al-Zaim’s third friendly match at their foreign camp in Austria.

Sofiane Bayazid opened the scoring for the Algerian champions in the 30th minute after a corner kick was cleared off the line by Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before Bayazid turned it into an empty net.

In the 60th minute, Mohammed bin Khamsa scored the second goal after a shot from outside the penalty area that substitute goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Rubaye could not stop.

After the goal, the game was stopped for a while because the Algerian fans set off several smoke bombs in celebration, according to the revelations of the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya.

The match saw full-backs Mohamed Mahzri as a starter and Mohamed Al-Sarnoukh as a substitute for the first time since moving to Al-Hilal respectively in the current summer transfer window.

Dutch winger Cresencio Summerville also came on as a substitute in the second half of the match, for the first time since signing from West Ham United, but could not save the “Leader” from defeat.

This is the first time Al Hilal have lost a pre-season friendly after beating Austria’s Sturm Graz 2-1 and Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in South Africa.

Al-Zaim will finish their matches in the Austrian camp on August 3 when they face Qatari Al-Ahli before returning to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
