Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has become a target for clubs in the Saudi Roche professional league as his contract with the Argentine Football Association comes to an end.
Scalloni has brought Argentine football back to football after a long absence from the international podium as he has won the Copa America twice, in 2021 and 2024, and the 2022 World Cup, while he prepares to defend his title at the 2026 World Cup, which starts next month in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Saudi journalist Sultan Al-Otaibi said on his account of X today, Tuesday, that “Lionel Scalloni has been offered to one of the Rochen League clubs to take over his training after the next World Cup.”

Although Al-Otaibi did not name the club, he said the contract expected to be signed by Scaloni, should an agreement be reached, is for “three seasons”.
Lionel Scaloni’s contract with Argentina is expected to expire next December, meaning he will enter the final six months of his contract with the start of the World Cup.
It’s worth noting that Scalloni has never managed a team at all, as his club experience has been limited to a role as assistant coach to technical director Jorge Sampaoli at Sevilla in the 2016-2017 season.
