The Spanish league follows up on violations
The Spanish Football League has followed up on some Espanyol fans chanting insults against Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior during the two teams’ 2-0 win at the RCDE Stadium in the Catalonia region last Sunday.
Vinicius Junior scored both goals for Merengers to delay Barcelona’s La Liga title bid, knowing the Camp Nou will host El Clasico next Sunday in Round 35 of La Liga.
Barcelona lead the Spanish league table with 88 points, 11 ahead of runners-up Real Madrid, and a draw is enough for the Catalan side to officially clinch the La Liga title.
The National Professional Football League has sent a letter of complaint, as it does every week, to the Spanish Football Federation’s competition commission and anti-violence committee regarding chants that incite violence or contain offensive or intolerant content at professional football matches.
According to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo The Spanish league published the list of offensive chants that were heard during the match between “Espanyol” and “Real”.
The newspaper adds that the referee of the match, Gil Manzano, was verbally abused more than once, and the fans of the Catalan club chanted the phrase “mindless fool” against Vinicius.
