Brand New Day also stars Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo, and has a new director, Destin Daniels Crayton. Reviews, so far, are mostly positive.
The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey, External He declared it “the best Spider-Man movie in over 20 years”, giving it four stars. The Telegraph’s Robbie Colin, External It also awarded four stars, saying that “the franchise brings back the lost spirit of gawkiness.”
Hollywood Reporter David Rooney, External He said the film “matches self-reflection with action”, although there was a more mixed reaction. The Guardian Peter Bradshaw, External. Zendaya gave the film three stars, saying it “saves” it.
2021’s No Way Home, the most recent Spider-Man film, was a huge box office success, earning $1.9bn worldwide.
