White flag.. Arsenal surrender in Vinicius Junior deal

The player is close to renewal

Arsenal appear to have begun to give up on their dream of signing Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior after the English club’s hopes of completing a deal in the current transfer window have collapsed.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Arsenal officials are now confident that Vinicius Junior will extend his contract with Real Madrid, prompting the London club to abandon the idea of making a huge offer to convince the club to part with their Brazilian star.

Arsenal have emerged as the most prominent interest in Vinicius, especially after Real Madrid decided to open the door to a loan move in excess of €100m for the new winger, but the player’s personal position has given the English club no indication of his desire to leave.

Vinicius’ future at Real Madrid is still tied up with a contract extension amid ongoing negotiations over his financial demands as his current deal expires in the summer of next season, leaving the club with two options: either agree a new deal or decide to sell him to avoid leaving on a free.

Marca noted that Vinicius has yet to show any public desire to leave Real Madrid, nor has he made any statements or messages on social media indicating his desire to start a new endeavor.

With the chances of signing Vinicius dwindling, Arsenal have begun looking at other options to bolster the winger position as Gabriel Martinelli’s position remains uncertain, while Frenchman Bradley Barkola’s name from Paris Saint-Germain’s Paris Saint-Germain stands out as one of the options presented to rivals Liverpool.

So it seems that Arsenal’s hopes of signing Vinicius Junior have turned into nothing more than a summer dream for now, with the player close to continuing with Real Madrid and extending his contract.
