Egypt’s women’s team started their Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco on Tuesday with a disastrous 6-0 loss to Zambia in the first round of the group stage.
Zambian forward Barbara Banda scored 4 goals to lead her country to a resounding win against Pharaoh Women, while Rachel Nashula and Enelize Phiri scored the other two goals.
The victory lifted Zambia’s women’s national team to the top of the group with 3 points, while Egypt’s team remained without a point at the bottom of the standings.
Egypt’s women’s team looked very modest and failed to respond to Zambia’s attacks throughout the 90 minutes.
The women’s team of Egypt is in the third group with the teams of Zambia, Malawi and Nigeria.
The Egyptian women’s national team will play Malawi in the second round next Saturday, and will end their campaign in the group stage against Nigeria on Wednesday.
