A series of strange events in a college laboratory classroom left 33 people — including students, professors, and agency workers — believed to have been exposed to the deadly virus. Of those, 32 started taking antibiotics as a way to prevent serious infections. Two also developed ulcers – known as back ulcers – after developing mild symptoms.
But none of them have encountered a dangerous virus, a twist of luck in an unusual situation, which somehow represents a warning for many years. The event was published in a recent magazine Weekly Morbidity and Mortality Report.
It started with a simple laboratory task. Microbiology laboratory students have to be given secret bacteria by their teachers and then identify the virus based on a series of biochemical tests and morphological characteristics.
