Bad memory: Kamavinga reveals reaction from Real Madrid stars after being sent off against Bayern Munich

The French star confirms: I completely broke up with everything

Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga of France is still suffering the effects of his controversial sending off in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, almost 20 days on.

Kamavinga came on as a 61st-minute substitute against Bayern Munich, but received two consecutive cautions (the last for time-wasting) and was sent off in the 86th minute, after which Bayern scored twice to settle the match (4-3) and advance to the semi-finals.

Kamavinga acknowledged his attempt to stay away from the media hype and move on from the incident, especially as many held him responsible for Royal’s Champions League exit.

Kamavinga said in his statements to the French “Canal+”. “It’s a bad memory. It was an accident that I never expected. It affected me, but it’s part of a player’s life.”

Real Madrid led (3-2) until the final minutes, when the match went to two extra periods, but the dismissal forced Bayern Munich to decide the match in regular time.

He continued. “I’m not lying when I say that after what happened, I completely broke my relationship with everything.”

However, Kamavinga revealed that his team-mates’ post-match reaction should absolve him of any blame following the incident that angered the entire Real Madrid crowd.

He continued. “They came directly to support me in the dressing room, they said it was not my fault and it was a refereeing error, I accepted it as a mistake.”

The Frenchman put the biggest blame on the Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, adding: “The club even texted me the next day to assure me it wasn’t my fault.”
