Officially, Al Hilal Saudi Arabia have signed a new deal

Saudi club Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia have ended their struggles at right-back that continued last season by officially announcing the signing of Mohamed Mahzri from Al-Taawan on a three-year deal that expires in the summer of 2029, a move aimed at strengthening the defensive line in preparation for the upcoming matches.

The official signing ceremony was completed last Monday evening and Mahzri is set to join Austria’s Zaim camp to take part in ongoing preparations with his new teammates before the start of the official competition.

The deal follows a severe crisis at right-back for Al-Hilal last season, as Portugal’s Joao Cancelo suffered a serious injury before leaving the domestic squad and his role was limited to participation in the Asian Championship, then Saudi Hamad Al-Yami followed with a similar injury, forcing the club’s management to strengthen the position in the summer transfer market.

Mahzri, 24, is considered a versatile player as he excels at right-back in addition to his ability to play in the heart of the defence, giving the coach a variety of tactical options.

Mahzri started his football career in the youth groups at Al-Etifaq, but he did not get a real chance in the first team, prompting him to go on loan to Al-Taawun first before signing a 3-year contract with Al-Amid last summer.

However, the player’s excellent performances last season caught the attention of Al Hilal management, who were able to negotiate with Al-Taaun to buy out the remainder of his contract, a deal that reflects Al-Zaim’s insistence on filling defensive gaps and bolstering the squad with promising local elements who have proven their worth in the Saudi league.
