This is the third series of Interviews with the Vampire but it takes a new time, set in 2025 with the analysis of the blood-sucking rocker Lestat – he was played so impressively by Sam Reid that he could produce lines like “MDMA and LSD: Torvill is the Dean of hallucinogens” and “I carry the unconscious unconscious”. The Australian government’s old policy of separating Aboriginal children from their parents, in order to assimilate them into white culture, is based on a part of Warwick Thornton’s secret period drama. Aswan Reid stars as a blond-haired Naturalist boy who finds himself in the countryside and ends up at a Benedictine orphanage run by Cate Blanchett’s Sister Eileen. It’s a strange world for him, but when he shows miraculous powers, Eileen sees in him a very Christian divinity. Simon Wardell
