Trump has said that Iran’s war talks are being carried out by security attacks

US President Donald Trump has said “very friendly negotiations are underway” on the conflict with Iran, after the warring sides did not exchange blows for a third day in a row.

“I think there is a good chance that something will happen,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One, expressing hope that the war would end on Monday.

However, Washington warned that if the final deal failed, it would “go back to what we were doing” before the war ended.

Tehran has denied any direct negotiations are underway.

Trump said on Friday that he had decided to end the US attack on Iran after the countries negotiating between them asked to give the talks another chance.

Iran also stopped its attacks.

The pause followed nearly two weeks of daily U.S. attacks and tit-for-tat attacks, effectively announcing a cease-fire in June.

The US military said at the time that the attack was aimed at threatening Iranian commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz – an international oil shipping route.
