Bridget Phillipson was appointed as the chairman of the Labor Party

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has appointed Bridget Phillipson as leader of the Labor Party.

A Labor spokesman said Phillipson, minister for women and equalities, would work closely with deputy Labor leader Lucy Powell to modernize the party ready for the next general election.
