OpenAI’s ChatGPT now rejects requests to create articles that directly imitate the style of famous authors. When asked to do so, the famous LLM instead offers an answer that takes into account the “broader quality” of the authors “by being self-evident in their words,” for example.
This morning, Ars received the following response to an attempt to request a Stephen King-style story:

In testing, ChatGPT created similar dodges for other authors both living (JK Rowling, Amy Tan) and dead (Charles Dickens, Ernest Hemingway). An analysis published by No Latency earlier this month found the same behavior for living authors but found ChatGPT to match the requests of deceased authors.
