German club Red Bull Leipzig announced on Monday that their young Ivorian winger Yann Diomandy has returned to squad training after a holiday with Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, amid renewed interest from Spain’s Real Madrid in the player who stunned the world with his exceptional performances at the tournament.
RB Leipzig posted on their official social media pages that Diomande joined his German team-mates as planned and underwent a pre-medical at the stadium, where he appeared alongside a group of smiling players, with the club commenting on the photo, saying:
Instant brilliance in the Bundesliga
Diomande joined Leipzig for €20m last summer from Spanish side Leganes after one season in the Spanish league. He adapted to German football with surprising speed, where he performed at remarkable levels, reflected by his exceptional performance with his country’s national team at the last World Cup.
The young Ivorian winger dazzled the world with his performances at the World Cup, making him the focus of Europe’s biggest clubs, led by Real Madrid, who are showing renewed interest in signing the player in the current summer transfer window.
“Real” is waiting
Despite strong European interest in Diomande, Leipzig did not indicate any possibility of the player leaving in a statement, demonstrating the German club’s commitment to their rising star, who is considered one of Europe’s hottest young talents.
