Paris Saint-Germain have withdrawn from the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Yann Diomonde, with Real Madrid now increasingly confident of landing the Ivory Coast international.
“PSG has this evening officially withdrawn its interest in Ian Diomande and made a bid for him,” the Ligue 1 and European champions said in a statement. The sky in Germany.
“The requested transfer fees and salary demands were grossly disproportionate and distorted – and PSG will not break its principles of reasonable financial management and squad balance.”
Madrid, who have already rejected an £85.4m (€100m) bid for the 19-year-old, are understood to be pushing hard to finalize a deal for the player, with Leipzig wanting significantly more to let him go.
Real has also agreed on personal terms with Diomande.
Diomonde previously indicated his preference to join PSG earlier this summer and has agreed a contract with them until 2031.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been active this window as they have moved Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Mark Cukrella.
Liverpool Diomande has also expressed interest, but is unwilling to pay more than £85m.
Premier League clubs Arsenal And Manchester City Also remain interested in Ivorian.
Arsenal Real Madrid are looking at a potential deal for the winger Vinicius Jr.
There has been no club-to-club contact at this point, but the interest is real. Vinicius Junior is one of Arsenal’s several forward targets, with Julian AlvarezDiomande and Bradley Barcola Also interested players.
The Brazil international, 26, has entered the final year of his contract and if a deal on a new contract cannot be found, Real could be open to selling him instead of losing him on a free next summer.
Bayern Munich director Christopher Freund denied that claim Real Madrid may come for Michael Ollis.
Ollis has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants but Freund says such a move is not on his mind.
“It’s not an issue for us at all,” Freund told reporters on Saturday.
“We are delighted that Michael Ollis is back from his holiday. He will play an important role at Bayern Munich this season, just like last year.”
“Everything happened quickly,” said Ian Diomonde. Indeed, it’s remarkable now to think that Diomonde’s entire senior career last year came with half a dozen starts for Leganes at the end of last season as they were relegated from La Liga.
He scored in two of those six games, against Espanyol and Valladolid. Even in the other four his team did not find the net. But the teenager did enough to convince RB Leipzig to part with €20m to bring them to the Bundesliga. Once there, he had a revelation.
Exciting to watch and impossible to defend, Diomande Baz is full of unexpected initiatives. He has things that can’t be coached and he’s getting better at hearing them. The biggest clubs want him. The rest cannot bear him.
