The sun may be hiding behind gray clouds, but it will take more than the threat of rain to dampen the spirits of the hundreds of people in red dresses dancing on the Yorkshire moorland.
After all, this is Bronte country, so even Bronte weather is appropriate.
Swinging in unison, the group assembled to recreate Kate Bush’s 1978 Wuthering Heights music video, inspired by Emily Brontë’s novel.
Every year, thousands of people around the world don red dresses – and in some cases, long black wigs – for The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
Events have previously been held in places such as Sydney, Copenhagen, Berlin, Folkestone and Preston.
This particular “Mass Water” has perhaps a stronger claim than most – it took place on Pennystone Hill, not far from the famous Brontë parsonage in Haworth, Pennines.
From the field, on a clear day, you can see the ruined farmhouse of Top Wins, believed to be the main inspiration for Brontë’s novel.
