Andy Burnham has pledged continued support for Ukraine ahead of Zelenskiy’s visit.

Andy Burnham has pledged to continue the UK’s “unwavering” support for Ukraine ahead of a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday.

Zelenskiy will be the first international visitor since taking over as prime minister a week ago, which Number 10 said “demonstrates the strength of relations between the two countries”.

Visiting a naval base, Burnham announces that he has shared the intellectual property behind the UK’s new “Stone Cloak” electronic warfare system, allowing Ukraine to produce the technology on a scale.

The Prime Minister said: “Britain stands with Ukraine, standing shoulder to shoulder, and our support is unwavering. Russia must be in no doubt of its determination, and we will not back down until we bring a lasting and just peace to Ukraine.”

He added: “The Stone Coat is the best and most proven of British inventions at home, and is vital to our security in both countries.”

The electronic jammer is the size of a tablet computer and is designed to prevent drones from being detected.

The Ministry of Defense has given thousands of pieces of equipment to the Ukrainian forces to strengthen their drones.

Downing Street has said the technology will be built into the UK’s next long-range weapons system following its deployment in Ukraine.

This includes Project Breakstop, a program to develop low-cost cruise missiles – self-guided weapons that can be flown like regular airplanes for most of their flights, he said.

During Monday’s visit, the two leaders will meet more than 200 Ukrainian military personnel who have spent the past three weeks on naval exercises in the UK.
