Jerry Kelly won the ISPS HANDA Senior Open at Gleneagles by two shots as he claimed his third career PGA Tour Champions major.
Kelly, a two-time winner of the Senior Players Championship, birdied his final hole after finishing 10 under from the greenside bunker on Sunday.
The 59-year-old carded a two-under 68 in the final round at Perthshire to gain 18, and had three birdies on the front nine and bogeys at six and 11.
Cameron Percy, who shared the 54-hole lead with Kelly, failed to break 70 over the weekend after carding 63 and 68 the first two days.
The Australian’s even-par fourth round meant he shared second place with South African Darren Fitchard and American Matt Gogel, with the latter finishing on seven-under 63.
Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher, fifth overall at six under par, was the highest European finisher and carded an eight-under 62 to edge Gogel into the day’s round.
Gallacher, a four-time winner on the DP World Tour between 2004 and 2019, exited 2019 with five birdies across his front nine.
Love on 10 and 11 then picked up a shot on 13 and then finished with a final birdie to leave him seven under on the day before bouncing off a solitary bogey on 12.
Stuart Cink won the first two majors of the PGA Tour Champions season – the Senior PGA Championship and the Region Heritage – ahead of Padraig Harrington at the US Senior Open.
Jack Johnson claimed the Cowleague Companies Championship in Akron, Ohio – formerly the Senior Players Championship – a tournament Jerry Kelly won in 2020 and 2022.
