Darfur: Weapons Information | Mass murder

This article shows how mass violence in Darfur has been institutionalized over time and why many activists, governments and courts call it genocide, even though the term is still politically controversial. It explores how environmental stress, territorial neglect and competition relate to land-related grievances among people. It shows how Khartoum armed and mobilized militias, how propaganda made “Arabs” and “Africans” the enemy and how aerial bombings, burning villages and mass displacement became policy tools. Through the testimony of survivors and forensic analysis, the film follows the path of the anti-terrorist movement to crimes against humanity and the killing of suspected criminals and questions what justice has been done – and has not been done – in Darfur.
