Beau Graves won the women’s world title for the third time after a dramatic comeback against Fallon Sherrock in the final leg.
The top seed wasn’t at her best but she held her nerve to win 6-5 at Blackpool Winter Gardens, pushed on by Sherrock.
It was Graves’ third matchplay title in four years but after letting a 5-3 lead slip, the 22-year-old was under pressure when Sherock hit a decisive 180.
But the 22-year-old was hit by a high of her own and followed up with a 145-run build-up before hitting 56 to clinch victory.
“I’m not one to celebrate but I felt relieved after winning,” Graves told Sky Sports.
“It was just a relief to hit the last dart. I’m really happy to win.”
“I was really nervous. That kind of pressure is a privilege – I’m doing well and playing well. I didn’t think I played my A-game, but to win and win is big. It’s a great night.”
Doncaster’s Graves went in as the clear favorite but found herself in trouble in the semi-finals after getting through the quarter-finals.
Gemma Hayter took her to another deciding leg but Graves went through the darts in style to check 104 and reach the final.
In contrast, Sharrock dropped one leg on her way to the title, defeating defending champion Lisa Ashton 5-1 in the semi-finals.
However, she became the first women’s singles champion since the inaugural tournament in 2022 to reach the final for the third consecutive year.
Three-time women’s world champion Graves, however, has yet another big win in a year.
She was in April She became the first woman to win a PDC ranking title. When you beat Michael Smith.
She is She became the first woman to complete a nine-dart finish on the PDC ProTour. He did this in February against Mensur Suljovic.
“I’ve known before that playing the women’s game is a bit different for me now – I try to focus on the men’s game – but when I come back and play in the tournament here it’s going to be tough and I know it’s going to be tough,” added Greaves.
“I didn’t think I would get rid of this problem, but after last year’s disappointment, I really miss to get the win. The relief is great for my game going forward.”
