The conflict between clubs in Saudi Arabia’s Roshan League is heating up as the start of the new season approaches, as more than one club has begun making deals to strengthen their ranks before the summer transfer window closes.
Middle Eastern sources have revealed that Al-Ittihad and NEOM are in competition to sign Al-Ettifaq midfielder Mukhtar Ali in the current transfer window.
According to sources, the move to Al-Ittihad comes after midfielder Hamed Al-Ghamdi suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a training camp in Spain, an injury that will keep him out for several months, prompting the club’s management to look for a quick replacement, making Mukhtar Ali one of the most popular options.
On the other hand, NEOM have also entered into talks with Al-Ettifaq to sign the same player as part of their efforts to strengthen their ranks ahead of the start of the new season.
Sources have clarified that the management of the deal is not against selling Mukhtar Ali if a suitable financial offer is received as part of the team’s restructuring plan, provided that the final decision is related to the financial value of the offer.
Mukhtar Ali is 28 years old. He began his career at Chelsea’s academy in England before gaining professional experience in the Netherlands before moving to the Saudi League via Al-Nasr in 2019, before playing for Al-Fateh and Al-Tai before joining Al-Etifaq in early 2025 on a four-and-a-half season contract extension.
