Casemiro makes Inter Miami debut despite MLS investigation into transfer | Football News

Casemiro is playing, Messi is resting after the World Cup and Suarez’s goals gave Miami their sixth consecutive MLS win.

Brazilian striker Casemiro started playing for Inter Miami despite being investigated by Major League Soccer (MLS) over his transfer to the United States club.

The former Manchester United man played the entire game as Inter Miami beat Montreal 1-0 on Saturday. Last week, MLS said it was investigating “false allegations” against the club following Casemiro’s arrival.

The league’s inquiry overshadowed the midfielder’s arrival, with MLS saying it would withhold details of an agreement between Inter Miami and LA Galaxy over Casemiro’s “rights to acquire” until the review is complete.

Under MLS rules, clubs must negotiate with any team that has signed a player before signing him outside of free agency or free agency. The Galaxy had rights to Casemiro before he decided to join Miami instead.

Miami’s 1-0 win over Canada came thanks to Luis Suarez’s 81st minute penalty. The match was awarded after German Berterame collided heads with Montreal defender Efrain Morales in the box.

Berterame passed out and was taken away in an ambulance after the accident.

Former Inter Miami coach Guillermo Hoyos confirmed after the game that Berterame is aware and “doing well”.

“The impact was very strong, but he is recovering,” Hoyos said.

Suarez sent a soft shot past Sebastian Breza for his ninth goal of the season and sixth in the last three games to hand Inter Miami their sixth straight victory.

Lionel Messi has also been rested as he continues his recovery after Argentina’s run to the World Cup final.
