After he expressed his desire to play for the Greens… Algeria surprised Yassin Adli

In a remarkable development in the long-awaited dossier, Algerian football federation sources announced that the national team was not concerned by the sudden drop of French-Algerian midfielder Yassin Adli, stressing that “the matter has been settled and closed forever”.

Algeria’s categorical rejection

Adly, 25, a former PSG player and currently with Saudi Al-Shabaab, has repeatedly said over the years that he does not want to represent Algeria, despite repeated interest from the Algerian federation, and the player has previously represented the French national team at age groups.

But he surprised everyone a few days ago with his decision to wear the “green” shirt again.

“I know him well (referring to coach Vladimir Petkovic) and we recently exchanged some words on the phone. He recognizes my value and I know his style of play. Wearing the Algeria national team shirt is the most beautiful thing for me.

But the Algerian response came decisively and quickly. La Gazzetta newspaper confirmed, citing reliable sources in the Algerian federation, that Algeria is not concerned about this fall and has not given any official reaction to this sudden media announcement.

The sources explained that the federation considers Adli “a player who cannot be selected for international selection” with the Algerian national team, after he repeatedly rejected it years ago, and therefore “the case is decided and closed forever”.

Repeated rejection… and Algerian pride

It is noteworthy that Adli, who was born in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, to Algerian parents, repeatedly refused to respond to the calls of the Algerian federation, preferring to wait for an opportunity with the French national team, which has not yet come.

His last rejection came in 2023, when he confirmed in media statements that he would “not change his mind” about representing Algeria, prompting the Algerian federation to permanently turn the page and focus on other players.
