It follows a separate incident in West Mersey, near Colchester, where a mother and her teenage daughter died on Wednesday.
Shali Rahman, 41, and Samiha Rahman, 15, tried. Help the seven-year-old relative to get out of the water. He remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Ch Insp Stuart Austin, Clutton District Commander, said: “I know there will be a sense of shock and concern at the recent events elsewhere in North Essex last week.
“Our first thoughts are with those affected by yesterday’s incident on the beach.
“Also, I know the area was busy, and the incident was witnessed by many people.
“Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and all services did an incredibly professional job of clearing the area to allow paramedics to assist the three people involved.”
