Mitchell Marsh and Dan Lawrence scored ruthless half-centuries as Sunrisers registered their first win in the competition with a hard-fought victory over Southern Braves at Leeds Headingley.
Opener Marsh’s 34-ball 69 with six sixes and four fours helped Lawrence’s unbeaten 51 off 25 balls to take the hosts to 187-5.
Sunrisers captain Jack Crawley was dismissed in the golden duck as England spinner Adil Rashid claimed his third wicket of the afternoon after earlier removing Marsh and fellow opener Ryan Rickelton (37).

Adil Rashid once again showed how he can be a game changer with the ball as he took three wickets for Sunrisers in just five deliveries.
Harry Brook was clean bowled by Marcus Stoinis for three before Lawrence’s effort and a quick 21 from Tom Allsopp helped the Sunrisers finish strongly.
Ben McKinney led the Braves’ response with 44 off 23 deliveries, with fellow opener Jamie Smith 18 off 30 and Australian Stoinis 16 off 31.
Tristan Stubbs kept the visitors in contention with an unbeaten 43 off 20 balls. But the home team held on for their first win of this year’s tournament, while the Braves remain winless after two matches.
In women’s matches, Southern Brave Sunrisers made it two from two with a five-wicket success against Leeds.
Jemimah Rodriguez scored an unbeaten 42 off 34 deliveries, while Australian captain Sophie Molyneux made 21 off 17 as the visitors chased down 117 with four balls to spare.
Bryony Smith’s 34-ball 48, which included six fours and a six, helped Sunrisers to a total of 116.

Rachin Ravindra showed great footwork and shot selection as he scored 98 off 44 balls against MI London
Rachin Ravindra stroked the joint fourth-highest score in the history of the men’s competition Welsh Fire 15-run win over MI London in front of a record crowd in Cardiff.
The Oval-based franchise has won the men’s competition in each of the past three summers but their star-studded bowling line-up had no answer for Ravindra, whose 44-ball 98 fired up the Sophia Gardens crowd before he pulled off a stunning catch-and-bowl to claim the key wicket of James Vince.
Ravindra appeared to be batting on a different surface, bringing up the milestone with his half-century off 22 balls and dispatching Rashid Khan to the midwicket boundary.
With Joe Root (26 to 29) playing second fiddle, Ravindra stepped on the gas, hitting four sixes off eight deliveries and surpassing Jonny Bairstow’s record (86 not out) for the highest score by a Fire batter in the men’s competition.
Jordan Cox played a lively cameo after being stumped by Root Khan but all eyes were on Ravindra as he approached his century, only for the Kiwi strokemaker to fall for 98 off the 98th delivery of the innings, caught by Jason Roy off the impressive Trent Boult (1-16).
In reply, Will Jacks fell early to Sam Cooke but the visitors were looking good at 72-1 after 46 deliveries, with Lockie Ferguson (4-26) hitting two balls in quick succession, dismissing Roy Castling and then Sam Curran for a golden duck.
Ferguson’s third was when he removed the dangerous Nicholas Pooran, creating a spell to catch and bowl Ravindra Vince (38 off 66) with the match in the balance.
The Fire bowlers held their nerve at the death as Rutherford (24 not out from 18) flexed his muscles, Ferguson came back to clean Tom Curran and seal his side’s second win of the campaign.
Meerkat match hero Ravindra said: “We know how good MI London is and the history and pedigree of their team, and the way we played at our home ground, it was fantastic.”

Headlining a strong showing from Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham Welsh Fire MI beat London by 60 runs in women’s century at Sophia Gardens.
The Fire lost their opener to the Southern Braves but bounced back to post 177-4 – the third-highest total in tournament history.
Captain Devine made 52 off 29 balls and Wareham 43 off 20 balls after openers Georgia Wall and Ella McCaughan contributed 42 and 27 balls respectively.
Grace Potts took three wickets for 24 as MI London were bowled out for 117 for their second successive defeat.
