What I learned when I reopened the Lockerbie bombing files

Dick Marquis, who led the FBI’s Lockerbie task force, said he believed the PFLP-GC was the “number one suspect” when the case began, but years of investigation have turned up nothing to prove it.

“There was not a shred of evidence that could have brought him to court and convicted him,” he said. “You couldn’t do it. It was okay.”

However, there are others, besides Swire, who still question the “official narrative” – ​​including former CIA agent John Holt, who believes Iran was behind the bombings.

Holt in 2011. In the 1980s he worked with Libyan intelligence assets and was the supervisor of double agent Abdulmejid Ghiaqa, whose information became central to the investigation into the Lockerbie bombing.

Holt now believes Giaka was a “BS artist” who was out for money and feeding the CIA lies to get paid.

“I never thought much of it,” he says.

“He gave us a little information about what happened, but he didn’t know anything about the Pan Am bombing. And he knew a lot about Megrahi,” says Holt.

Holt believes that the CIA’s bank is undervalued as an informant.

“It makes it easy for someone who’s giving them money to say whatever they want,” Holt says.
