One person has died and more than ten others were injured when a car is suspected of driving into an LGBTQ crowd in Berlin, German police said.

The incident late on Saturday prompted the police to stop the event in the German capital shortly after.

They said at least 14 people were injured and some of the injured were seriously injured. He ordered everyone on site X to leave the venue immediately.

Police added that a car had been left at the scene in Tiergarten Park – the capital’s wooded area where the parade ends – and they were looking for its occupants or occupants.

“We are actively searching for the suspects,” police spokesman Florian Nath said in a video posted on X.

Police searched the area between Potsdamer Platz and the southern part of the Tiergarten canal as they searched for evidence, a dpa reporter at the scene said.

Emergency responders were treating the injured at the scene. The number and severity of injuries was not immediately known.

Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the city on Saturday to celebrate Berlin’s Pride parade, known in Germany as Christopher Street Day. This is one of the biggest LGBTQ festivals in Europe.

The Pride event in front of the city’s famous Brandenburg Gate was called off at around 10:15pm local time (20:15 GMT), and the group’s performance was disrupted. People were advised to go home and avoid going through the Tiergarten park.

Before that, people celebrated peacefully, marching through the city for hours, dancing to loud music, and enjoying the approximately 80 floats that participated in the parade.
