Premier Sports Cup: St Johnstone Crash Out – Round Up

St Johnstone crashed out of the Premier Sports Cup with a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer at East Fife, but Premiership rivals Dundee United squeezed through after Montrose wasted their chances at Spartans.

Montrose needed just one point to progress to the last 16 as Group B winners, but the League 1 side lost 2-0 to the visitors from the bottom division.

St Johnstone needed a win to progress as at least one of the top runners-up but Inverness finished third behind Caledonian Thistle and East Fife, who failed to progress to the knock-out stage.

Aberdeen, Ayr United, Kilmarnock, Ross County and Stenhousemuir United and Caly Thistle joined as group winners.

Dundee and Partick Thistle also go through two of the three best-placed runners-up.

The final group winners and best runners-up will be decided on Sunday.

St Mirren will win Group C if they avoid defeat at home to Dunfermline Athletic.

If Dunfermline win, they are guaranteed group winners or runners-up as they will have a better goal difference than Queens Park.
