Barcelona surprised their fans today, Saturday, by unveiling their second signing to bolster their women’s squad in preparation for the 2026-27 season, as they announced 24-year-old American goalkeeper Tyler McCamey, who arrives on a free transfer from Dallas Trinity FC.
The Catalan club confirmed in an official statement that Makami, who made 16 appearances for her former team last season, will be officially signed at the club’s headquarters in the coming days in the presence of president Joan Laporta and women’s football director Javier Puig.
The signing comes just days after the club announced the signing of Dutch goalkeeper Rene van Asten as part of a comprehensive plan to strengthen the goalkeeper position ahead of the start of the new season.
The American goalkeeper fills the void left by the departure of Texel Font, whose contract with the Blaugrana expired and he moved to Badalona’s women’s team, so coach Per Romeo is supported by three female goalkeepers: Kata Cole, Gemma Font and newcomer Tyler McKame’s squad.
These quick moves in the transfer market reflect the desire of the Barcelona administration to strengthen the depth of the women’s team and maintain the high level of competition that the team has become accustomed to in recent years.
