Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to complete the move for Leipzig’s 19-year-old German midfielder Jan Diomande, an Ivorian talent, in a transfer expected to be worth €100m or more, insisting the move does not mean taking Olissey off Real Madrid’s target list.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Bayern Munich’s Olissi, 24, is still high on president Florentino Perez’s list of priorities, but Valdebebas chiefs have made sure the Bavarian club will not let go of their star in the current summer transfer window, despite Merengue willing to pay more than €20m.
In light of this impasse, Real Madrid turned their attention to Diomande, who they had long monitored and who were reported to be close to signing for PSG, but the Spanish giants’ intervention confounded calculations and prompted the player to give his initial consent to a move to the Spanish capital.
As for Olissi, Real Madrid have decided to temporarily freeze talks without writing off the file permanently as the club remain alert to any indication that Bayern Munich could open the door to negotiations, with the corridors of the Valdebebas expecting the real opportunity to come next summer and not now.
