Uruguay is in mourning after the death of young striker Mario Bruno Bentancur, a former Peñarol talent, at the age of 22. His body was found in cardiac and respiratory arrest, days after an incident that sparked controversy during his playing trial in Argentina.
According to the network highlighted RCC:Frenchman Bentancourt recently traveled to Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires to live with first-tier side Deportivo Ristra in the hope of securing a professional contract, but the club decided not to sign him.
Reports suggested the player had left the club while on trial accusing a number of teammates of stealing his clothes, before returning to Uruguay without agreeing terms with the Argentina national team.

Bentancourt rose through the ranks at Peñarol, where he was previously considered one of the most promising talents, before continuing his career at Uruguay’s amateur league rivals Deportivo Italiano.
