How did you get into comedy?
I was submitting drawings to Spitting Image when I was 17 and making my own drawings online. But I think in terms of my free time, that didn’t happen until (online political cartoons) The Next Room.
Was that an overnight success?
I watch a very bad interview with Boris Johnson and write the opinion of a neighborhood councilor who pulls his hair out at what is being said. Then I took a picture after dinner, posted it before bed and the next morning there were millions. So that’s the win of the night, right?
There were some terrible interviews that happened that week that were shown on social media and I realized that the person could be in the next room with any problem anytime, anywhere. It had a lot of longevity in it, unlike other paintings I’ve done in the past that spread out.
Have you ever had the impression that many people enjoy the story of your artwork?
I follow very stealthily. For example, if I criticize someone in the cabinet, I am usually followed by someone in the cabinet. Like: “Yeah, he’s bad, isn’t he?” People like Keir Starmer come after me because of what I did a few years ago when the Conservatives were in charge. But this is all fiction, nothing to do with me. And I have to admit, it makes me angry that I don’t have them because to them it means it’s just a game. But it’s not because, you know, lives are at stake sometimes. And I just want people to be held accountable, so that they don’t just hang out in this weird celebrity fantasy.
Have you always considered yourself a satirist?
Not really, no. It’s like how Peter Cook was called a satirist – it’s not right because he just found the whole world funny. But it always seemed to me that comedy was the best place to go for acting.
What is the best pedaling experience you have had, if any?
It is not. I find trolls very disgusting. They are motivated by their own toxicity and negative behavior towards you. It’s what gets them up in the morning. I once made a poster where I combined two public information videos – one was “Be careful in the boat with your petrol” and the other was “Don’t boil the kettle”. I combined them and made “Do not boil the kettle on the boatTwo people had a big argument about why you shouldn’t boil a kettle on a boat. that online feedback has not contributed to society or culture.
Do you have a comic hero?
I have a lot. As for the actors who made my worldview, I would say watching the reruns of Monty Python in 1987 on BBC One after Match of the Day just changed my life. It made me look at the authorities and realize that they are needed to earn our respect. They should not be given respect just because they are wearing a tie and a suit.
What the audience can expect from you the show is coming up, hope all is well?
Hope. I thought it would be so much fun if I could overcome all the bad things going on in the world and find the light at the end of the tunnel. So it’s a good and inspiring show… and being funny.
Are there bugs from the game world?
Maybe this is an old man talking, but I don’t like how when players take a break, they don’t joke. They present TV programs or appear on social media. He doesn’t do comedy and he doesn’t really do it. Many opportunities include baking cookies or answering questions on Mastermind. It is unpleasant and unpleasant. When I was a kid, if someone was really good at comedy, they usually got their own comedy.
What’s next?
Making sure my visit is booked for the upcoming Mr. Brown episode I’m appearing on. I am being killed. I look forward to that.
