Texts of the 14-year-old accused of murder between singer D4vd and Celeste Rivas Hernandez show she was pregnant and had an abortion before her death.
The messages came to light as the singer, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, faces trial over the teenager’s death last year.
“What if the first abortion doesn’t work?” Celte texted Burke in June 2024, prosecutors said. At that time she was 13 years old and he was 19.
Prosecutors say Burke killed her after threatening to abuse a minor and destroy his career. He pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering and sexually assaulting the girl.
In the exchange, which dates back to January 2024, Burke apologized to the teenager for “putting her through this,” according to messages released Friday in a Los Angeles court.
She replied: “Neither of us can afford to look after and care for the baby. It’s for the best, isn’t it?”
Burke asked, “Also, my mom always tells me to ask this question if I’m ever in this situation… is mine right?”
“Of course it’s yours, David,” replied Celeste, according to the detective’s testimony.
In a June 2024 letter to Celte, the court wrote, Burke wrote: “Let this abortion be the last until it becomes real…”
Prosecutors also presented iCloud data from the defendant’s iPhone, which showed a 2010 exchange between him and Celeste. On August 8, 2022, she was 11 years old and Burke was 17 years old.
She shot to fame on TikTok for Romantic Murder and Here With Me in September 2025. She was on tour when police found Celeste’s body in the front of a Tesla – the day after she turned 15.
His international tour was canceled and he largely retreated from public life and social media.
Police announced the arrest in April this year.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hockman filed seven felony charges, including murder, continued sexual abuse of a child and dismemberment.
The teenager was reported missing by her family and was last seen at Burke’s Hollywood Hills home on April 3, 2025 – five months before her body was found in Tesla.
Prosecutors say he met Celeste online when she was 11 and began sexually abusing her when she was 13 and he was 18.
