Britain’s Josh Kelly says we will see a “different version” of him when he makes the first defense of his IBF light-middleweight title against Kaohin Agyarko on Saturday.
Kelly rebounded from the only defeat of his career to defeat Bakhram Murtzaliev in 2021 and won the belt in his 20th professional fight in January.
After a career-best win over Troy Williamson in 2023, Belfast’s Agairko has overcome the odds to earn a seat at world title level, having been cut by the promoter’s Matchroom.
Both will take to the ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the undercard Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight return against Christian Prenga Fully aware of how difficult it was to reach this stage.
“Being a world champion does something to you,” Kelly said at Thursday’s final press conference.
“I used to think it was a myth but how I go about my work in the gym is different. It’s a different version of me.
“When I have that confidence, it’s a tough night for anybody: ‘Boots’ (Jaron Ennis), (Sebastian) Fundora – any of them.
“I’ll come on Saturday, show the levels of this game and put on a show.”
