ICC prosecutor Khan cleared of sexual assault charges: Source | Story

The member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have voted to remove Karim Khan as a prosecutor, according to legal experts.

Various media organizations announced late on Friday that, according to sources, a majority of the 125 countries in the forum voted to impeach the prosecutor, two years after the charges against him first came to light.

The move comes amid pressure from the ICC. The prosecutor oversaw the issue of documents released to Israeli officials during the war in Gaza and the investigation of U.S. personnel in Afghanistan.

The Trump administration has already brought sanctions against Khan and a dozen other ICC officials in retaliation, and recently announced plans to destroy the ICC.

Khan has denied any wrongdoing and his lawyers say the reasons behind the vote were illegal, unfair and inconsistent with the evidence.

More to come…
