Weeks after the latest Anthropic fingerprints by the US government, and days after OpenAI security event which led the discussion of the technology industry, Anthropic on Thursday released its new model, Claude Opus 5.
The company said in a release that the Opus 5 “comes close to the capabilities of the Claude Fable 5 in many areas” and is much better at demanding writing tasks. (Mythos 5 is the example of the people of Mythos that angered the government, it was removed from the Internet for a few weeks along with Mythos 5, and then to be restored and more powerful online security than ever before.)
The concerns of Fable 5 – and the subsequent weeks of negotiations between Anthropic and the government – ushered in a new era of AI legislation in the Trump administration. Soon, when OpenAI released GPT-5.6it had a two-week trial period, with gradual exposure to government-approved institutions.
Anthropic promises strong cybersecurity protection with Opus 5
When asked if Anthropic ran Opus 5 with the Trump administration before it was released, Anthropic spokeswoman Danielle Ghiglieri said. Seaside“We continue to work with government partners to conduct independent testing on our screens. This includes Opus 5.”
Anthropic is marketing the Opus 5 primarily to its business customers, saying that it’s great for life sciences work and that it’s the perfect everyday model, with the Fable 5 still best for the most ambitious types of work and remote AI projects. But the company was careful to say in the release that it has stronger cybersecurity protections than its predecessor, Opus 4.8, and that it “is the most integrated version of Opus and is easily tricked into misuse.”
With the release of the new model, the company also seems to address the recent controversy over hidden helmets – which has led to one case -and and AI money squeezeor concerns that AI lab funds are being passed on to their clients in new ways. At a million tokens, Opus 5’s pricing is the same as its predecessor ($5 input / $25 output), and Anthropic said it’s “half the price” of Fable 5. slightly cheaper than OpenAI’s GPT-5.6.
Customers can also select Opus 5’s “Fast mode” (a feature that is being launched today in preview research), to get maximum speed at twice the price. There is also an option to automatically log into fantasy to a limited version where security dictates that Opus 5 reject the user’s request.
