From “Al-Ahli” to “Al-Ittihad”. Diria shocks the best players in the Saudi Arabian league with the Portuguese deal.

Diriyah, newly promoted to the Saudi Roshan League, continued to target the competition’s best players, this time at Al-Ittihad, after signing a new Portuguese contract.

He said Saudi Al-Riyadiya newspaper Al Diria have agreed terms with Portuguese winger Pedro Gonsalves to join Sporting Lisbon in the current summer transfer window.

Gonçalves will sign a contract with the Diria team for two seasons, with an option to extend for a third season, and will receive a total salary of €30 million during that time.

Al-Diriya settled the deal at the suggestion of his new Portuguese coach Bruno Lage, who made it high on his list of priorities for the Saudi club to reach an agreement with him.

The Portuguese winger must undergo a medical in the next few hours before officially signing the contracts and joining the Diria camp.

Al Diriya outbid many of the Saudi clubs who have been monitoring the 28-year-old recently, led by Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad.

The newly promoted club previously dealt a blow to Al-Ahly by signing Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye. About his move to the ranks after the end of his contract with his former club Everton.

Gonçalves has been regarded as one of Sporting Lisbon’s most popular stars in recent years, especially since his move from Famalicao in 2020 following brief spells with Valencia and Wolverhampton youth groups.

Gonçalves’ most notable individual achievement was winning the Portuguese league top scorer title in his first season with Sporting Lisbon in 2020-2021, when he led the team to the title.

In total, the 28-year-old led the capital side to three Portuguese League titles, one Portuguese Cup, two Super Cups and two League Cups, in addition to winning the 2025 UEFA Nations League with Portugal.

It is noteworthy that Gonsalves participated in 41 matches with “Sporting” Lisbon last season, during which he managed to become the author of 15 goals and 9 assists.
