England captain Nat Syver-Brunt will miss the first two matches of Trent Rockets’ The Hundred to manage his workload.
Sciver-Brunt, 33, has been dealing with a calf problem all summer.
The all-rounder picked up the injury while playing domestic cricket for The Blaze in April and missed England’s preliminary series against New Zealand and India, as well as three World Twenty20 group-stage matches.
This meant he had to play as a specialist batsman during the tournament, where England lost to Australia in the final at Lord’s.
England’s next series begins on September 1 with three ODIs against Ireland.
The Trent Rockets open their Hundred campaign against Birmingham Phoenix on Friday at 15:00 BST and then take on London Spirit on Sunday.
Sciver-Brunt previously captained the Rockets but stepped down shortly after taking over England in 2025.
His wife, former England bowler Catherine, was recently appointed as the Rockets’ assistant coach.
