Washington, DC – After the unprecedented violence in April, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is trying again.
The annual – and highly controversial – event took place in April, but quickly fell apart after a gunman attempted to sabotage what he said was an attempt to assassinate US President Donald Trump.

Trump has had a difficult relationship with the dinner, but he celebrated it this year, calling it “a great thing” and a “HOT ticket”.

Why was it delayed?

Attendees are warned to expect extra time to clear security checks. There will be cocktail parties before the program begins.

Although Trump is preparing to make a statement, the US president has indicated that the nature of his speech may change.
After the April 25 dinner, Trump spoke softly, saying he didn’t know if he would “be as aggressive” as he had planned in his speech that night.
Trump originally said he wanted to attend the first dinner because the media recognized him as one of the greatest US presidents, if not the greatest.
However, he said he was “ready to rip” and delivered “the most inappropriate speech ever uttered”.
